Hurlburt Field Strengthens Sustainability with Mattress Recycling Initiative

Hurlburt Field partnered with LRP Recycling to responsibly remove and recycle 50 queen mattress sets as part of ongoing facility upgrades. This initiative reflects the base’s commitment to sustainability, operational efficiency, and responsible resource management across U.S. military installations.

Through LRP Recycling’s specialized recycling process, each mattress set was dismantled to recover valuable materials such as steel, foam, and fabric. By diverting these materials from landfills, Hurlburt Field continues to support environmentally responsible practices while maintaining high standards for base operations.

Environmental Impact:

• 10,900 pounds of material diverted from landfills

• 50,000 gallons of water conserved

• 300 days of household energy preserved

• 400 tanks of gas saved
