City of Manassas Continues Commitment to Sustainability with Mattress Recycling

The City of Manassas, Virginia partnered with LRP Recycling once again to complete a municipal sustainability initiative involving the removal and recycling of mattresses and box springs from local facilities. This project included 5 twin mattresses, 1 twin box spring, 10 full mattresses, 15 full box springs, 24 queen mattresses, 22 queen box springs, 18 king mattresses, and 19 king box springs, all responsibly recycled to reduce landfill waste and promote environmental stewardship.

By choosing recycling over disposal, Manassas continues to lead the way in implementing sustainable solutions within municipal operations, demonstrating how local governments can play a key role in protecting natural resources.

Environmental Impact:

  • 17,142 pounds of material diverted from landfills

  • 180,000 gallons of water conserved

  • 1,080 days of household energy preserved

  • 1,440 tanks of gas saved

The City of Manassas remains a strong example of community leadership through sustainability and responsible waste management.
