Texas University Promotes Campus Sustainability with Mattress Recycling

A university in Texas partnered with LRP Recycling to responsibly remove and recycle 200 twin mattresses as part of a campus housing renewal project. This initiative supports the school’s commitment to sustainability and resource conservation, ensuring that all materials were properly processed and kept out of landfills.

Through LRP Recycling’s specialized mattress recycling program, valuable materials such as foam, metal, and fabric were recovered and repurposed, reducing environmental impact while promoting long-term sustainability.

Environmental Impact:

  • 10,800 pounds of material diverted from landfills

  • 100,000 gallons of water conserved

  • 600 days of household energy preserved

  • 800 tanks of gas saved

This project demonstrates how universities can make measurable progress toward sustainability through responsible action.
