A university in Pennsylvania partnered with LRP Recycling to coordinate the donation of one full trailer of miscellaneous furniture, including desks, chairs, dressers, and other residence hall items. Rather than discarding usable furniture, the university chose to repurpose it for community use — supporting both sustainability and social responsibility.
Through this project, LRP Recycling handled the logistics and coordination to ensure all items were transported efficiently and distributed to organizations that could put them to good use. This initiative demonstrates how higher education institutions can lead by example in combining environmental responsibility with community impact.
Environmental Impact:
Over 10,000 pounds of furniture diverted from landfills
Reduced carbon emissions from waste hauling and disposal
Increased reuse and resource recovery through local partnerships
Together, the university and LRP Recycling continue to strengthen the connection between sustainability, community, and responsible waste management.
